15hp Force hard to starting

1985 15hp force is hard to start, plugs are new, points are good,when I finally get it running, it will run and start to lose power and then come back up to full power, I had it in the tank running for 10min and then it started to lose power and died, I did not to touch the motor i wanted to see if it would cut out........... never had any problems with it

Check your fuel pump they are run by eng vaccum and pressure. if the diarphram is cracked you usally get fuel out of exhaust also check carb float and clean the carb while you are at it. My fuel pump was bad and flooed the motor and every one said it was the carb which was wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also when you prime the system does the bulb for fuel get hard. Check your fuel lines for cracks also or loose conections. Make sure there is no trash in fuel tank. It sounds like you have a fuel starvation problem.
