15HP evinrude long shaft

I have a 15HP evinrude outboard about '90-91<br />I will provide numbers if necessary.<br />The question is What type of work is involved to change this long shaft back to a short shaft??<br />Did evinrude make this transformation doable with a kit,short to long?Is there any parts or problems I'm about to run into before tearing into this project?Any info. welcome,Thanks

You should be able to do it with just purchasing a new short shaft drive shaft. Take the 5" spacer out between the lower unit & the exhaust housing, put the new drive shaft in. They had a kit to go from a short to a long shaft, but all it should take is just the driveshaft to change a long shft to a short shaft.<br /> The water pump is in the lopwer unit so it won't need to be changed.

You also need a lower shift rod (PN 318992)

Thank's mr.machinist!<br />Now the search continues for a short shaft.<br />Anyone in ontario have a lead on a short shaft for a 1993 15hp evinrude?Let me know!!
