My 86 xr2 trim just started leaken down the tilt and trim works great i just left the motor toter off and when i got up the next day it Had slowly leaked down how do i go about fixen this thanks
justin , check the bypass valve on the starboard sode of the engine to see if it maybe loosened up or maybe stripped out for some reason. i just had to replace mine and it is kind if pricey for a piece of plastic.
893929 merc part # also has 2 orings. do you have any oil leak in that area?. might be internally bypassing. i also had to change pump motors on mine but that didnt affect the leak down on mine. the valve assemlbly threads on mine was stripped
internals are little more for someone more exper. sorry icant help there . knock on wood , i havent had to go that far yet. i hope it is something quick and easy as well as inexpensive. good luck . sorry i couldnt be of more help. where r u located? maybe someone close to you can help troubleshoot the system
Check the manual release first the you can check the cylinder. It will require a spanner wrench to remove end cap and you will need to remove pin that hold tilt ram in place.
