I have a few questions regarding the jets on my 1990 Evinrude 150XP. This engine has been rebuilt and the jets do not maths the parts manual for this engine. The problem is that I ran this engine with the 56C's one time and it would not turn much over 4000RPM (5300 with 65C's). The 175 engine calls for 61C's, so it would appear that it is running very rich. I certainly don't want to run it lean. Are the 150-175-200 carbs the same for this year? What are your thoughts regarding these jets? I don't know if these are the right carbs and /or jets for this engine. There is a lot of hesitation in the mid-range. The timing/sync is correct.

Here are the jets sizes I have in the carbs now:
High Speed - 65C
Intermediate - 30
Idle - 38

The OMC parts manual shows these jets:
High Speed - 56C
Intermediate - 29
Idle - 33

Thanks for your help...

Re: 150XP Carb Jets

I believe that you will find the setups are for two different carburetors. The 65C/30/38 should go with 431795, 56C etc with 432119.

Re: 150XP Carb Jets

Here is some more information:

M/N: E150STLE5B
S/N: R 08551740
Carb #'s: 334329-FN

The two carb numbers you referenced don't match this sequence. Any ideas? Could these be the incorrect carbs?

Thanks.

I will assume you mean E150STLESB. The parts manual shows your carburetor assembly is 431,795. That came with 38 idle, 30 intermediate, and 65C high speed.8)

Perhaps 334329 is a casting number?

That number must be just a casting number. I need help! I just don't know what is wrong with this engine. I purchased it as "rebuilt". It blew at 127 hours due to shade-tree machine work to the intake ports. I replaced the block, rebuilt it myself and it now has an additional 250 hours on it. The boat is a 20' center console. I am currently running a 14.25" x 17" SS Raptor (exhaust holes in front of each blade). It has good compression (95 to 105psi). The carbs have been cleaned. I have replaced the timer base, stator, reg/rectifier, and power pack. I am going to replace the coils if only because they are 16 years old. The acceleration is poor. It seems to lug hard around 2800 RPM, but once it reaches about 3100 it takes off (even with light fuel/load). It takes at least 15 seconds for it to plane. It will turn about 5200 RPM at WOT (40 mph). I am not looking for a race boat, I just want it to plane-off like it should. I hate to lug the engine so hard. This engine has always run like this from the very beginning. I had a '88 Suzuki DT150 Super Six on this boat for 12 years, and the boat would plane in about 3 seconds with a 18" pitch prop. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
