Hi. I'm working on a 150XL, 2001. It cranks well but does not start. If I put premix into the cylinders it'll fire up. I see 12 volts at the injector 4-wire connector (red wire), but I do know if the Dark Blue, White or Yellow wires are switching. What would hold back all six from spraying? Could a bad fuel pump stop all 6 cylinders? Bad ECU?
Thanks,
J

I went back to the boat yesterday to find out if I could see the fuel injector voltage switching. I put the ECU back on the engine but when I turned the key I got nothing. Completely nothing. I hot wired the starter and the voltage and current should not be in question. The starter will engage. Everything was dead. No starter, no 12 volts at the red injector enable, Nothing. Any ideas? Is there a secret system kill switch?

A little confused, you said the starter will engage, but then "everything was dead. No starter..."

Otherwise, I would lean towards ECU if you're not getting spark, fuel, etc. If you have a multimeter and can trace 12V from the battery to the ECU, but not out of the ECU to injectors etc, I'd lean towards the ECU.

Have you pulled plugs and visibly confirmed that they're sparking?

Sorry for the confusion. With the whole system dead, I thought I should check the battery. I hot wired the starter to the battery to see if the battery had the guts to spin the crank. And, it did, so I know the battery is good and can put out the necessary current.
Spark was verified with an air gap spark tester set at 7/16". Good Spark. So, that's why I went the fuel route.
Just can't imagine what's now causing the completely dead system. Bad cabling? Ugh....

20amp fuse blow ..its by the starter solenoid. The crank not start problem before this happened sounds like fuel pump not running

Thank you, Faztbullet. You always come through for me !!
I'm gonna order the fuel pump kit first so I don't blow the bigger bucks on an ECU, right now.
TY.

Check the electric high pressure pump as it should turn on and run for a few seconds when you turn key on.....
