I have a 96 150 faststrike model #J150GLEDB and thinking about attempting to change the waterpump myself and was wondering how difficult this might be . I have a clymer manual and have read books about fixing jet engines that is easier to understand that that book! anyway it doesnt mention part numbers also how do I know if I have a 20" shaft or a 25". any secrets would help. thank you sik.

Re: 150 waterpump change

The "L" in the model number denotes a 20" shaft.Your best bet would be a factory engine specific manual.Pretty straight forward procedure for anyone with basic mechanical knowhow.Your local dealer will have the correct waterpump assy.Just provide them with your engines model number. The BMC kit will also contain any info on updates to your engines cooling system.
