I just bought a boat with a 1988 150HP Johnson VRO. Unfortunately, no do***entation such as owners manual...etc came with the boat. Anyone know of a good source for obtaining manuals for the motor?? Also, intersted in hearing any user feedback on the engine itself so I know what quirks to look for. Thanks!!

Re: 150 HP Johnson VRO

Howdy, Woolybear. I use the Clymer manual a lot. It covers a lot of engines and leaves out some details that a shop manual might include, but has always served me well. The one you want is #B736. . . around $30 at auto or marine supply stores.

Comments on your engine: The VRO system has a poor reputation, though many operate well for many years. A lot of us eliminate worry about it by disconnecting it and using premix fuel. The 150 V6 itself is a terrific engine.

Good luck.
JB
