My 150 has always been a pain to restart after running for a while but yesterday it did something different. It was running fine at idle after restarting but when I hit the throttle it just bogged down several times. Eventually it got going and ran perfectly all the way home. It runs good at all rpms. I'm leaning towards a carb rebuild but before I do I just wanted to check if I'm on the right track. Its a 1995 150 hp 2 stroke. Thanks in advance!

Clean your main jets and see if that helps. Remember there are six of those. They are located on the sides of the bowls.

You motor may also have a power jet, whatever that is. It looks to be on the bottom of the carb. Probably worth cleaning as well. Not sure if their are one or two, likely two.

Your carb does not look to have an accelerator pump, so maybe the power jet serves that purpose? It is a guess.

Step #1 is a compression test.-----Post your numbers.-----Next is a spark test.-----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all leads ?-----I chuckle when I read ----" rebuilt the carburetors , motor still runs the same ".

Compression is good, powerhead was rebuilt not long ago.
