Does anyone have a fix for the throttle rod popping coming out of the lower fitting? This is the vertical rod behind the intake. It was doing it about 5 years ago and a certified Mercury mechanic told they all pop out if someone does a panic stop. About the forth time it happened I replaced the bushing (pn# 932481) it slides into. It turns out it was cracked. As far as I know it is the only one in the fleet that has ever been a problem and they all get abused. I am very surprised Mercury didn’t use a some kind of a keeper to hold that rod in place.
