15 HP "OLD" 2 stroke yamaha

I dont know how old it is, but i have been having some overheating problems. It seems fine when in neutral but when its going it over heats very quickly. It has only ever been run in freshwater. It appears to be at least 15 Yrs old. I have had it for about 3 yrs. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks In advance<br />yea-yea

You are well over due to replace the water pump impeller ,or do a general water pump overhaul.Pull down the gearcase and inspect the water pump components. If they all look good, replace the impeller anyway because it is at ,and well beyond ,it's service expectations.
