15 hp gamefisher won't start

I just bought a 1992 15 hp gamefisher off of ebay a few days ago, first time I had it out it ran just find, the second time it ran for about 15 minutes and than died and would not start back up. I have checked out the fuel system and it seems to be working just find, and getting fuel, plugs look good also . The only thing I could see wrong was this brown looking stuff leaking out of the lower unit. It was coming out of one of the little drain holes on the side of the lower unit. It is not the lower unit fluid I have checked it out and it is clean and not leaking. I do not know if this is the reason it wont start but it sure dont look good. Does any one have any thoughts of what it might be or some other advice ?

That brown gunk is probably normal unburned fuel mix, IRR.

Go to the Engine FAQs, "Outboard won't start" to troubleshoot.
