15 hp 2 stroke Nissan stall out in gear

Just started happening, 1990 Nissan is choking down and dying when I put it in gear, idles fine, starts fine, put her in gear and stands on it's nose and dies, sounds like it blubbers out and dies. Any ideas?

Could be just that the idle is set too low, paddler, but it is more likely to be making power on only one cylinder.

Check: Spark, compression, and reeds.

Could be anything at this point, but 90% of the time the carburetor is dirty.

Compression in the mid 90s on both ends, good spark on both, I did my best attempt to take the carb apart and clean, maybe something I missed in the process, cleaned with seafoam, replaced and same result. Could it be the float not not riding high enough?

Seafoam isn't strong enough to clean a carb. It's a hyped up preventive cleaner. You actually have to take the carb apart and soak the pieces in carb cleaner for hours. The carb should be level when you flip the carb upside down...It's really, really, really rare to find one where the float is off.

aye, aye, captain..she's soaking even as we speak.
I can't find a timing mark on the flywheel for this model either. Marks are on the magneto base nothing on the flywheel.....that I can find, am I missing it?

On this model engine timing is done by measuring the linkage rods oh the side of your engine. The measurements are in your service manual.

Thanks Guru for the advice. I reset the timing which was too advanced, regapped the plugs to .039, adjusted the carb while in the tank and now she's runs and shifts like new.
Can you confirm the year on this?
