15 HP 1956

I have 15HP 1956. When ever I start the motor it starts fine but always back fires through the exhaust.<br /><br />Several questions.<br /><br />1) Should I be letting the pressure out of the tank when not in use?<br />2) Any ideas for the back fire?<br />I do let the pressure out of the tank when not in use.<br /><br />3) As I adjust the low speed adjustment, I also get back fire through the exhaust.

1. Yes, let the pressure off while not in use.<br />2. Likely, the backfire out the exhaust is caused by a lean condition. If adjusting the carburetor to he rich side doesn't make it go away you may need to take the carb apart and thoroughly clean it. <br />- Scott
