140hp Johnson help

1985 140hp johnson #J140TLC0 I hooked the battery backwards. It would not charge battery after that. I was told to replace Rectifier so i did. I took the boat out and battery is still not charging. I replaced battey but after a few days of starting boat and running electronics i need to charge battery. What else did i damage?

I am not exactly sure about the 1985 model 140, but there is a fuse by the main connector plug. Refer to the atached link (item #23) check it, it may have blown... If that fuse is bad you wont have anything. No starter or primer etc.

I learned something today.... I wasnt real sure what that fuse was for..... <br /><br />Thanks DHadley!!!!!!
