No trim motor burnt up so when I open up motor casing black oil ran out. I thought that the seal had leaked and ATF got in. But the guy who rebuilt it said the seal was fine.I have been bleeding air out of system manualy the way the book says. But still have a lot of air. Is ATF supose to start to come out of manual valve because I am not getting that. Now I need to rebuilt motor again from trying to use power trim which by the way is super slow and has burnt up , so what am I doing wrong?

Jeff,

It is normal to get oil out of the manual release when you bleed it. But, I can't tell you what's wrong except to say that you have a leak or you couldn't get air in. Working the unit up and down should expose the leak, but not always. You really need to get this in to someone in your area who is used to working on PTT units.

i am not getting any oil out of my manual release valve. i just thought i should be. but for some reason i cant get the air out of the system manually. ive asked several boatyards and i cant even get anyone to look at this outdrive.Last year number one piston burnt up and nobody would work on it then neither. so i bought a manual and rebulit it myself. when i talked to mechanics all they say is we know nothing about those tohatsus motors. ive contacted three tohatsu dealers and all they want to do is sell me parts but will not give me any information. im about ready to throw this thing in the bay. do you know who i can contact to report these tohatsu dealers who are the rudest people you want to meet. Thank you.

The number to call is 972-323-6003 and ask for anyone in management. Normally you will get oil out valve, so if your not you must be leaking down quickly. What's your zip code?

In this case, leaking down means that you have an air leak that is preventing the system from operating correctly. Also, the following four dealers are in your area.

Thank but the first two are the rude ones. The guy at Kane all I did was say hi my name is jeff what is your name and he hung up. When I called back he would not give me his name. I know you are a dealer but I got to tell you some of these guys are RUDE. Not you

Ps.Why do you think there was oil in my electric motoer the first time I took it apart? Do thay come with oil in them?
