Lar welcome to iboats and since you have pictures The Starcraft club. Ok onto your questions personally I wouldnt cut up such a nice boat . I would maybe build a casting deck in back but I would leave the bow alone.

I agree with Rick, don't whack away at such a nice boat. Can't be that hard to find a V hull intended for fishing that you can adapt to your own design.

My two cents.

That is one nice-looking Holiday larlarsa:)

I can see why the guys are saying not to cut it up since it is in great condition and looks original:D...but...that being said, I'm actually looking at a 15' Holiday that I may do the same thing to when I get it:eek:

It will be a tough call since the closed bow offers good structural support and keeps water out of the boat. Since I will primarily be using the boat for fishing/cruising it would be nice to have additional seating/fishing platform up front.

Either way she's a beaut and good luck with her:cool:

i know many member like the original look of this boat, but i have a foot control trolling motor in hand already, and use boat fishing more than cruise around,i have search the board and see one of the member planning to cutting the bow out ,but he didn't update the picture of the final production.

i have see many Starcraft boat their model name like Holiday,Super sport, Jupiter...etc,beside the size, they all look similar, any big different between those model?

this is what i did for my buddy,1989 SeaNymph 14"
i replace all the carpet and relocat the livewell to the side, add casting deck upfront and casting deck on the back.rewire all electronic.

i would like to do the same deck in my Starcraft too.

Larlarsa, putting the casting deck in the front like you did the other boat will give you the structural support. Congratulations on the Starcraft, I agree it is an great looking boat to start cutting on though.

What part of Canada are you from?

The wife and I love to fish on Lake Nippissing.

Jeff.

 Well all I can say is you should have bought a fishing style boat in the first place . Makes no sense to me to buy a boat that is no where near what you want then chop it up.

Hell here are three boats for the price of one. :p No idea where in Canada that you are located but you could have searched CL for a while and more than likely found a fishing boat at a good price.

Lar I will say we are pretty Big on our Starcrafts around here . I will add to my thoughts from earlier if you are going to cut the bow open try to do it like the Super Sprorts are done . Theres plenty of Super Sports around here to get ideas from . Then you can have a bow rider when you want it and put the casting deck in when you would rather fish.

i live in Toronto area,i don't think is too hard to cut the bow area and add the deck,Some of the Starcraft model is walk through design,i think it won't change the outlook too much, most of the parts for mod is on hand, just need some wood and hitch, carpet.

i have three 14' fishing boat before, but the starcraft i try is the most stable one i even ride, give me more confident on rough water, the lake i alway go is very tricky, everyday afternoon the wind become stronger, even in mid Aug sunny day.

Thank's JimbC for the link, but i don't have any space for three boat:eek:
