In september I will be going up to the chippeawa flowage for the first time with two other guys. In hopes of us actually catching some walleyes and jack fish we have come across the problem of where to store the fish while we are fishing. i was thinking a stringer but, with the power of these fish I think that it wouldnt work plus also losing fish to muskie's. :) with space being very limited with three guys, 6 poles, 3 tackle boxes anda cooler for food. I was thinking that a live well might be nice but how big and where to put it... Looking foward to hearing your ideas

A cooler with ice should suffice unless you are talking about adding a well to your rig..as for gator eyes attacking your stringer please let me and muskyone know where they are so plentiful..sounds like where we need to go..lol

Fixed your auto-repeat, GF.

I don't like the idea of three guys fishing from a 14' Jon on the Flowage, Skiuseme. That lake is not forgiving of risk-taking. You would be very vulnerable to weather, wakes, etc.

Please, leave the little Jon home and rent at least a 16' semi-vee Walleye boat.

Good luck and please release the big spawners and keep the 15 to 20" eaters. :)

The problem with the "Chip", is that it is big and full of stumps and logs, which makes getting off the water difficult if you are in a big hurry.

Be prepared to jump on an island and sit for a while if a big storm comes up.

Are you camping on one of the islands? If so, be careful. There have been numerous encounters with young rowdy tribe members, rocks thrown at tents and boats, boats stripped or set adrift.

And as muskyone said, overrated. I would prefer the Turtle/Flambeau Flowage.

As far as having your fish attacked while on a stringer, I have seen this once (Eagle Lake/Blind Bay, Vermillion Ont, July 1976). It was well worth losing that northern for the lifelong memory it gave us.

If you are eating the fish, you want them alive on a stringer, or on ice. If your cooler space is limited, you can always pull up to an island and fillet them, then drop the fillets on ice.

We are Staying at lake chip campground for the weekend hopfully we wont encounter any of the tribe members. Plus I am a very firm beleiver in the slot size of the eye's in canada, 18"-24" we dont keep because of spawning. I feel that it has done a great job of keeping a good stock of eye's in lac seul.
