Has anyone made some type of frame for a cover on a aluminum boat. Something that is somewhat portable and effectively routs water off of the boat. I do not see anything for sale. My boat is 14' long and about 50" wide. I have made supports out of PVC before for other open bow's but this boat is too small for schd 40 2 1/2" PVC.

I used 1" PVC to make the frame. The frame sits in the boat. I just made three upside down "V"s and joined them together front to rear. The tarp is a typical blue Home Depot tarp, only I cut it to shape around the boat and put new grommets in place every 2 feet or so. Bungees under the boat to each side hold it all down. We had some strong winds a while back, and other than a few oak leaves blown in, everything held up.

I was throwing around the idea of bolting some sort of frame to the trailer then attaching a tarp to it. Anyone seen something like this or done this? My concern would be the integrity of the structure while at highway speeds, of course I would remove the tarp before traveling. I dont think pvc would be strong enough.

One of the more simple ways to store your boat covered is with a couple lawn chairs opened up and placed in the areas where you need support. I do this with my 19 footer (alum. walk through) every year and it keeps the snow off the cover. This wont wiork too well if you intend to drive or move the rig, but for basic storage, it's a cheap effective way to protect your boat and cover.

LOL. My household owns three small step ladders. However, in the winter, only 1 is accessible :D:p

i just run two small step stools with about a foot of height on the rear stand using blocks of wood which were duct taped to the step stool. takes about 15 minutes to set up it has worked great. bungee cords and a nice tarp kept the snow off last winter and we had a lot of snow
