Can I put bigger carbs on a Mercury 135 to up horsepower? like 150 hp carbs? is there anything else i can do to this carburated engine to make it a sleeper 135 rocket?

Changing carbs will do nothing for you V/6 look in a parts manual and you will find the all use the same series of carbs year to year from 135 to 200+HP same pistons etc. If you want to burn race fuel Mercury high performance has heads and other goodies as well as some aftermarket manufactures, the cheapest way out is buy a larger HP engine and change the decals, any time your trying to build a cheater motor it costs real money to get real performance

thanks! is there a big weight difference between a 135 and 150 black max? how much does one usually run....say mid 90s?

A 135HP and 150HP share blocks and weights. Check NADA for price estimate
