Hey guys, I am more of a watcher than a poster, but I have the following question.

I am looking at changing boats. I am looking at a 22/72 F & F Mod V with a tunnel hull and pods. I am down to choosing between a Yamaha 150 4stroke or a 130 ETEC. Both are way more motor than I need. I crappie fish in winter and ski/tube in the summer. Now I am running a 20/72 with a Tohat 115 TLDI. It just barely goes faster than my Bro in law's high dollar Sea Ray. I want to leave him in the dust and yank a skier out harder too!

Give me some thoughts on the best choice.

Go see a BRP/ERude dealer and ask for the CD that they have, which compares ETECs with other brands. Check out the comparison againt Yamaha 4-dtrokes and the ETEC, particularly with regard to ownership cost.

It's hard to compare a 150 horsepower motor to a smaller 130, in fact it's not even logical.

Your best bet for what you want to accomplish is to get the Evinrude E-TEC 150HO model on the back of your boat.

Not only will you have a motor with lot's more torque and acceleration than the Yamaha F150, but you get the advantage of the high-speed gearcase on the HO model with its lowered water intakes for higher mounting heights.
