I have a question about installing the kit. I don't have the kit in hand yet but will in a week or so. The owners manual shows that the rectifier gets its power from two wires off the magneto. These same two wires could also be used to power a 12V/80W light according to the diagram in the manual.

When installing the kit I plan on going straight to the positive side of the battery with the fused lead in the kit. The diagram in the manual shows that the negative lead from the battery goes to ground. DOES THIS MEAN GROUNDED BACK TO THE MOTOR since that is the source of the power?

Also is it a good idea to splice into the two wires prior to the rectifier and running leads to my switch panel power system? I am thinking that once the leads from the rectifier are connected to the battery that I would not need to do this.

When you get your kit the dealer should have installation instructions in it for you. The two wires off your recitifier go to the positive and negative posts on your battery. Do not splice into the wires.

Thanks, I am hoping that the kit has better info than the owners manual. The guys at the parts counter at the dealer are not good at technical questions so I will have to rely on the kit.

It sounds like I don't have to worry about "auxilary" power from the motor as well as charging power once the rectifier is operational.

The ground wire from the rectifier goes to ground. Ground is the engine block which is also the battery negative terminal since the battery cable is also attached to the engine block. The positive wire from the rectifier does not run all the way back to the battery. Attach it to the large post on the starter solenoid that has the positive battery cable attached to it.

You don't power the switch panel. You power a fuse/breaker panel. To power that panel you run two large wires (positive and negative) from the battery to the switch panel. Add a circuit breaker or fuse in the positive lead within a couple inches of the battery. Those two wires are main source of power to the panel which then serves as the distribution point for the switches, lights, live well, blowers, pumps, and locators and other stuff.

I just realized your engine may not have electric start so in your case the output of the rectifier would have to run directly to the battery since you don't have a starter solenoid. Sorry about that.
