I'm putting a 1986 merc 150 on my 1994 Trophy 1802. It had a Mariner 150 on it. The problem is that the Merc has a 12 pin connector and the boat has an 8 pin connector. Is there an adapter that I can get or do I need to buy a 12 pin connector and wire it to match the engine?

Where can I find wiring diagrams of each?

Thanks,
Kevin

Does the motor in fact have 12 'sockets' ?some maybe empty.Unless you are hitting pin to pin,and in fact are connecting pin to socket plug it in and enjoy.

DHP

The layout is different so they won't plug together. :(

Kevin

an '86 V6 150 should have an 8 pin on it unless it was modified somewhere. You should convert it back to 8 pin. A used motor side harness should be available from a dead V6. Try twin city outboards

Any suggestions for a wiring diagram for either of these? What years were 12 pin harnesses used?
This motor has an external hydrolic pump for the tilt/trim....Is that what the extra wires are for?

Kevin
