Okay I have another question would I have a problem with a trailer that is overall 17ft 11 in and 5.5 feet between the fenders while my boat is 12ft long and 4.5 ft in width
That trailer would think it was hauling a baby just learning to be a boat....LOL.
Seriously though, I'm sure the trailer would haul the boat OK, but it probably would bounce around a lot because the springs would be designed for a much heavier load. You could replace the springs and tires.
Also, since you would need to locate the boat far aft, the weight distribution may be off. The practical fix would be to relocate the axle.
The best and most cost effective solution would be to buy a trailer designed for a 12 footer. Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply carry brand new trailers for about $500.
