Anyone else here have a 19 footer with a 125 force? If so, what is your top speed? Also, what is a good way to adjust the throttle? I'm assuming that you need to first take the cover off and have someone open the throttle up and ensure that the carbs are opening all the way, however, where can you adjust it?

Thanks.

I also have a 19 ft. open fisherman. My top speed is 40-42 so long as I keep playing with the trim because of the leak down problem .How many rpm are you running? My top is around 5000rpm.

I don't know what the tach is reading since it wasn't working < sigh >. Needs to be fixed and suspect it was a faulty ground but won't know till I start it up again. Just wondered what the "norm" was.

Also, are you acheiving 40mph with how much weight?

rslatz,
Thank you very much, I'll have a look at the throttle cable/carbs when I get a chance.

Re: 125 force

I found if you adj the throttle to max open it throws off the idle setting. I set idle notch on cam to be beside the roller for idle and the max open throttle is good enough or perfect.

Sony 2001,
Thanks.... do you have a picture or something that I can look at so I know where you're talking about? The problem that I'm experiencing is that I don't think the boat is getting to its max rpm due to the throttle cable possibly? Full throttle (or what appears to be full throttle via the cable) with 4 adults the max I'm getting is approx 29-30 mph on the gauge and also on my GPS. I would think this boat should be able to pull at least 35 shouldn't it?

I have founf that proper triming of the motor is necesary, also where your passengers are sitting. 4 people full tank same boat but 89 40mph hope this helps.

Re: 125 force

I have a 88 Cuddy Cabin, 19.5 feet I think. Solo with a 17" or 19" prop I get 31 to 34 mph on speedo and GPS respectively. My rpm is high but not too high and with the CC there is max weight and wind resistance. Usually cruise at 24 mph.
