125 for 120 L Drive swap??

I ran across a fresh 1989 125 HP L Drive engine and was wondering if it could be swapped with a 1990 120 HP L Drive? Looking at the spacer plate it looks like it could. Both seem to be a 13 spline coupler too. Any ideas/incite?

Looked ALL over the net for any info on this matter and can't get a solid answer. Please help if you have any ideas on this matter. If anyone has a 120HP and a 125HP L Drive on the floor could you please look at them and see if the bolt pattern is the same for the spacer plate. I'm almost postive they both are a 13 spline output shaft. If someone could please confirm at least that the 125HP is a 13 spline. I have also noticed quite a difference in price from a 1989 125HP L Drive to a 1990 120 L Drive powerhead.

just did this I swaped my 120ld92b with an 125ld9d which is the 1992 model to the 1989 model and yes perfect fit spline and all worked
only diff. was I had to use the wiring harness from the 1989 model and retrofit it into my 91 capri. Wasn't hard and very doable. Spacer
plate was an exact dublicate, exhaust water lines were diff. but still able to use. the 89 uses water into the exhaust and the 92 does not
but can use this set up in the 92 as all hook ups are there
