Hey guys-
Just picked up a 86-89? 120hp Johnson.
No data plate anywhere. One softplug with #G2252562 on it and according to Marine Engine.com- it's not a valid number.
What now?? I want to get a factory manual on this thing and I gotta know the model number.
Where else do I look?
Thanks

Look at the freeze plug in the block and it should have model and serial numbers

Call BRP (Evinrude) customer service at 847-689-7090 with the serial number (2252562) and they should be able to help you out.
Be forewarned that many motors that have no plate have been stolen sometime in the past. Some motors, however, had only stickers that got destroyed easily.

The motors in that era just had a sticker on the mounting that would eventually fall off when the glue got saturated with oil and gas, the ones on my 88 and 89 both have fallen off over the years.
