Re: 120 HP Force

I'm looking to purchase a running spare for a 1992 Bayliner Capri 1800. This boat currentely has a 120 HP force outboard. If this engine fails I want a replacement on hand so I don't miss too much boating time. A 90 would suffice in a pinch.

Thanks

I have a 120 Force, 1999, owned it since new, stored most of these years, looks new still. The engine has less than 50 hours on it. What state are you in? Do you have a freight account somewhere? Roadway?

I live in the Winston-Salem area on central North Carolina. I don't have an account setup with any freight lines. Would you be selling in with the power trim/tilt and the controls too? What are you looking for on price?

UH! Reminder Gentlemen--No selling or buying on the forum. That's what private messages are for. I'm surprised the moderators have let you get away with it.

Don't think so negatively. If it is running well now, the engine is not likely to fail catastophically. AND: Most necessary repairs other than a complete rebuild take less time than changing engines.

HOWEVER: A HINT: Talk to her! Treat her right! These engines appeciate you complimenting them. Stroke her gently every once in a while too. She will love you.

Don't believe me? I talk to mine all the time--wife thinks I'm nuts but I don't get left on the water.

Want to avoid major problems? install a cheap fuel filter between the pump and carbs. Best money you will ever spend. I use Purolator F50153 available at Pep Boys and probably other auto stores.

Re: 120 HP Force

Very good advice, your a wise man. Currently the engine runs great. My son is in the USGC and himself and a few of the mechanics went over it last year. I'll install tha filter and am also planning on install a tell-tail for the water pump. I currently have a temperature gauge but I'm a big advocate on the tell-tale. I'm preparing to get the boat out of winter storage next weekend. It was 70 degrees in NC today and I have the fever again.

Thanks much
