The owners manual on my 1996 Force 120 Hp ( Trophy 20' boat ) says to lubricate the steering cable through a fitting located on the starboard of the cable attachment nut. Only one problem............. there's no fitting there. How do I lubricate this cable? It's a "Ride Guide" steering cable.

By "fitting" do they mean a "zerk?" If there is no greasing nipple, is there a nut you could remove and squirt marine lublicant (gear oil) into the cable housing?

EBG,<br />Thanks ! It looks like they refer to a "zerk' fitting but there isn't any. I definitely can unscrew the nut and apply some lubricant into the cable housing. Is there anything I should be careful of ( like loose parts in the housing ) before I remove the nut?

It should come off okay -- just by using ordinary mechanical common sense.
