12 foot springbok max hp

My 10 hp johnson recently broke so i have to buy a new motor, i would really like to upgrade to a 15 hp, would that be dangerous? i cant find the max hp rating on it, its a fairly light older springbok, its had a leaky rivet here or there all fixed with gluvit and good now, fairly good boat. Do you think a 15 would be safe?? a 10 was ok but i would like a little more power
