Hi i have a 1976 starcraft 12 ft aluminum i was thinking about putting my 1982 18 horse mercury on it . I think the boat can hold the weight because the motor only weighs 100lbs . I was just wondering if this is a okay idea or a bad idea. The boat is always on a small lake where the water is usually calm. Thanks

I don't think you'll be real happy with that motor on that boat especially if you're going out solo. My dad's 14' is rated for 15HP and we recently got a 15 for it. For solo missions we really have to load up the bow with weight to keep it down.

I know that the boat is rated for a 10 and that it is going to take some weight in the front to keep it down. but the only thing is i do not want to sink my boat like i said i think it can handle the weight and the boat is on a small calm lake.

I don't think I'd do it, but if you do, and probably will, don't go alone.
