So I have a 12\24v trolling motor that works fine but got a sweet deal on a 12v with copilot. Can I just disconnect one of the hot wires in the female plug capping off the unused wire and still use the 24v male and female plug only connecting 2 wires, then leave the batteries wired as they are? Or do I need to buy 12v male and female plugs and rewire the batteries for 12v? Money is tight and I'm trying not to waste it. The way I see it, it's already wired for 12v, so why go to all that trouble? even if I won't be using the 24v anymore I may eventually want to switch to straight 24v if I don't like it. Sure could use a friend in the know. Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't be a problem if you only connect the 12 volt circuit to the new trolling motor plug. I don't see any issues...
