Good evening,
i am currently transferring my 17 Cape Horn from a 135 mercury to a 2010 115 tohatsu Tldi. Can anybody give me any input on this motor as far as dependability and fuel efficiency? Also, any input on how fast this motor should push this boat. Thanks!

MD115A2. Good motor. Based on the blocks from the old carbed 2-strokes. Smooth with 4 cylinders. Better efficiency that its predecessors. Speed all depends on proper propping, but I would expect a little less that the 135... but probably a better hole shot.

Perform a wot run as loaded on flat calm water cond and check achieved max wot revs, check if the motor is at least runniing middle to max wot rpm range factory stated, will know if in need to go towards a prop maximization depending if liking top hole shot or top end speed. You decide!!

Has Tohatsu abandoned the production of TDLI motors, nothing shows on their web page ?

Happy Boating
