Engine: '84 Mariner, Ser# 6527202, in-line 6, 115 hp.

Topic: Water squirting out of No. 6 cylinder. (100psi +/- 3%) on the top 5 cylinders, but thus far unable to check #6 due to the lower engine casing being in the way. Thinking of drilling a 1/2" hole back there to get my tester extension through. Thoughs/suggestions?

My main question is this: So far, it appears that the lower engine casing/cowling is in the way to get too all necessasry head bolts for removal and inspection. Will it be necessary for me to remove the power head from the motor to do my servicing?
Is there any cheater way to get to the lower engine area without totally removing the power head? Any helpful suggestions will be much appreciated from novice outboard mechanic and enthusiest. Thanks!
