I had a problem with my dist. on my 1967 merc.Took it to my local mechanic and had him replace it with a used dist., but have been having problems ever since then, basically gave up and went to talk to another mechanic. Come to find out the first mechanic installed a dist. out of a 115 hp engine. The 115 dist. is (according to the second mechanic) 20 degree advanced timing curve more than the 110 dist.My question is is ther a way to recalabrate the 115 dist or should I try and find one out of a 110. The problem with the 110 is they only made it 2 years 1966 and 1967. the 1966 had points and the 1967 has cdi. making it difficult to find. Would love to here any suggestions.Still new to this boating, and find this forum full of useful info. from freindly and knowlegable boaters. Keep up the good work Thanks in advance!!

Re: 110 H.P. Mercury dist.

Must be my lucky day! I found a distributor assy for my 110hp today! Mechanic#2 is going to let me use his puller to remove the flywheel, and check out the used dist. Did not really want to try and recalibrate the 115 dist. anyhow. Guess I'll have to find another anchor, and give the 110 another chance. Thanks anyhow!
