This motor has run like a top since I got it 3 years ago, but this year I can't get her going.

Ran fine when it was winterized and put away in the fall. In April I took the motor off to replace the tilt hydraulic line (so disconnected everything) and put it back on last week. I carefully labelled all the colours so that the harness went back as it came off.

Usually it's a couple squeezes to prime the carbs, a little choke, and off she goes. This year it cranks and cranks and nothing. Tested for continuity across the kill switch and the start switch on the distributor, both fine. Bought a spark plug tester, confirms no spark.

So I took the distributor off, cleaned the points with 400 grit sandpaper (looked fine though), re-set the gap at 0.10 (because in a fit of stupidity I took the points out). Still no spark.

Not sure where to go from here. I feel like I should be testing for 12vdc or continuity somewhere on the distributor, but not sure where. Any ideas?

Problem solved. It was the kill switch. I had tested continuity, but apparently not correctly. I guess the switch gave up over the winter.

For anyone coming here, I did what I should have done off the bat and test for 12v on the blue wire terminal on the motor. There was no power, which meant problem was not in the motor.

Well, at least I learned how to set points :)
