hi all,<br /> has anyone have any experience with a '79 or '80 model johnson 100 h.p.engine? on the motor hood it has a "JAVELIN" emble. is this a well known model?<br /> i have a friend that is going to give me this engine so, i have nothing to loose! <br /> thanks for your replies!<br /><br /> LIKEAROCK

The 100 is a very good motor. All V4 cross flow engines are mostly the same with some slight variations. Clean the carbs, feed it fresh fuel, keep Champion plugs in it and set it up to turn close to 5800 to 6000 RPM with an average load and it will live forever. The only thing you might have to do is re-jet the idle circuit. Remember -- it was jetted for 1979 fuel (which we haven't had for quite some time now). Have fun.
