After numerous warranty claims ratio was bumped back to 50:1. The problem wasn't the motors didn't run well at 100:1. rather the lack of oil on internal parts allowed rust formation during storage.

The stickers were supposed to be removed during dealer service, but as yo found, they are still out there. Use 50:1, Newyota.

I have a '88 30hp I bought about 6 years ago. It still had the 100:1 sticker. I removed the sticker and run 50:1. Great motor.

Thanks..Will do.Marina mechanic confirmed this also and said it was best to run 50:1..Better for engine..He said if I wanted to I could run 75:1 but it is not as good as the 50:1 and harder on engine lubrication.

Yep. My dad has a 40hp Envinrude of the same vintage. His said 100:1 too. He always ran 50:1 since new..... Runs just fine.

99% of 2 stroke motors are best to run at 50 to1 using a good quality tcw3 outboard 2 stroke oil.
BUT if you car to splash out a bit more money then you can run less oil by either using BRP XD100 or Amsoil, both of these are better at less oil than most 2 stroke oils, but no way would I want to run at less than say 60 to 1 with any oil.
Now if you are going to be running full throttle all the time then add more oil than 50 to 1 , 40 to 1 will be better for maximum protection at full throttle than 50-1.
no way would I ever run any 2 stroke at 100-1, that is just asking for trouble.

The 100:1 ratio was a ---" board room " ---decision to try and match sales with the competition at the time.-Declining sales on very good / well made motors meant that something had to be done.-The " buying public " --thinks that a 100:1 motor is built better that a 50:1 motor.---That is my opinion of why OMC had 100:1 stickers on the motors for a few years !!

IMHO the only reason for the 100:1 stickers was for the public that is too CHEAP to buy oil !!
