Hey everyone, I just installed a Moeller 10 Micron Clear Site filter and have not run the boat in the water yet. I did start the motor after and ran it for about 20 minutes. Just wondering what your thoughts are about this product. I did read two posts: 1 positive and 1 negative. PLEASE LET ME KNOW...I have a Yamaha 150 Four Stroke.
Thanks

Re: 10 Micron Filter Question!!!!!!

Glad it is a 4 stroke. On a 2 stroke, you need to fill the filter with fuel before replacing. Stay away from Mercury filters. They aere not 10 micron. 10 Micron is a must with Ethanol. do not know about Moeller, but highly recommend Racor with a drainable bowl.

I have the infamous 2 stroke and replace every 6 months, I just prime it after intallation and go. Also, like said before , carry that spare for a emergency clog or your 6 month replacement.

No worries.

Re: 10 Micron Filter Question!!!!!!

I don't know why there would be a negative side of the 10 micron being Yamaha now wants 10 micron filters on all of their fuel injected engines due to the new E10 fuels. They also want the filters changed every 50 hours rather than 100 as before.

Re: 10 Micron Filter Question!!!!!!

cause its a flow rated thing as well.
2 stoke 300 HP motors suck fuel a 25HP sips it.
both need a 10 micron but the flow rating is a bit different.
the F150 requiures a flow rating, when 10 micron filter is new, of 90 GPH.

Re: 10 Micron Filter Question!!!!!!

That's why the change to 50 hours from the old 100 hours change of the filters.

Actually they reccomend changing every 25 hours until you are sure there is no excess of water or trash, then you can go to the 50 hour change.

don't forget to carry your spare in a zip-loc for disposing of the old one, and a filter wrench

Are you talking about the Racor or all of the fuel filters on the motor? Is this from Yamaha or word of mouth from the mechanic?

on the fuel water seperators, yes Yamaha now reccomends service at 50 hour intravals.
or at least once per year if you dont use it 50 hours in a year.
