My 10 HP Honda is leaking gas from the top of the carbuerator. It starts leaking when I pump up the bulb and leaks like crazy when the engine starts.

Could it be a stuck float? Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Re: 10 HP Honda Leaking Gasoline

A friend of mine has a 115 Yamaha. One of his carbs on it was leaking the same way, about a year ago. He didnt have any money to rebuild carbs. I drained the bowl first, still leaked, so I took of leaking carb, dissasembled, cleaned with cheap carb spray. I found some gunk in the bowls, and in the float needle area. His motor is still running great!
I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the immagination, just sharing an experience, so please wait for the "experts" to reply. The prescribed method would prob be rebuilding carb, but we will see. I learn so much just reading all of these posts.

It's probably just a stuck needle valve or a stuck float as you already suggested.
/Bear

Could be a stuck float ,or comtaminated needle and seat as suggested.Either way you are looking at removeing this carb and giving it a complete cleaning, which doe's NOT involve boiling it out.

It could be as simple as pulling off the bowl. I have had them get a little water in the bowl and it "hang up" the needle valve.

Thanks for everyone's response. I removed the carb, and removed the bowl. I found the bowl has an "O"-ring type gasket so it can easily be removed without damage. I didn't find any gunk but the float was stuck on the spring and wouldn't operate. I freed it up and it worked fine after I reinstalled it.

Thanks again for everyone's help.
:D
