Hi. I just bought a 1989 4 stroke honda 10 hp. Runs great but no water is coming out of the pee hole. My question is does this style motor have a thermostat that would cause the water to start flowing after motor has warmed up? Or should the water flow immediately. I did not run the motor for long as afraid I would do harm to motor. If not I can change impeller etc. Any advice is appreciated. Regards.

It should have water flowing all the time. Start with the impeller and go from there.

Exactly-<br />This motor should always show a stream of pee. Do not run it until you change the impeller. This is usually a very neglected piece of maintenance. It is extremely likely that this will solve your problem.

try chasing the pump tube and make sure it is free from debris, spiders in the fall will make nests in there and block the tube.

If the impeller is old and has been shreaded, you will want to find all of those pieces. I am fighting that problem right now. Take your time and go through the system. I've had to do it three time now. I think I finally got it.
