The manual says the flywheel nut is 1 7/16" however; the socket I picked up over the weekend won't fit into the flywheel offset to get to the nut. Does anyone know if this is a special socket or maybe the one I picked up has thicker walls then normal, it is a 3/4" drive socket. Opinions welcomed..

The wall too thick. machine, or grind until fits. Look for 1/2 drive. I have Snap-On.

I use a Craftsman 36mm 1/2 inch drive socket.
The Craftsman number is 00950752000, and costs $8.79.

It is just a bit tight, slight tapping to get it on and off....but it does fit.

Run a nut and bolt throgh the socket, chuck it in a drill and run it against a grinder, that should take the wall thickness down like S**t off a shovel.

Thanks a lot guys. I was hoping that my manual was not giving me bogus information. I'm going to take this one back and look for a 1/2" drive.

You need a thin wall socket, regardless of the drive.
