09 Mercury 20 HP 4 stroke problems

I have an 09 mercury 20 hp 4 stroke, changed the oil and gear fluid in it. Now it runs like crap it runs choppy and its definitely not putting out full power. Then when I shift back into neutral there's a horrible clicking noise coming from what sounds like under the fly wheel. I removed the fly wheel and there isn't anything loose. I also hooked it up to the water muffs and the exhaust doesn't sound right either. Anyone have any ideas? I think it is out of warranty by now and I am scared to death on what this is and whats its going to cost to fix.

What is the engine serial # I can tell you if it's still under warranty or not.

If it's a 09 then make sure both the oil levels are 100% right, Then you really should be taking the engine in to a mercury service dealer to have it looked at. Also if it is under warranty you really should not be removing the fly wheel your self yet.

Did you buy the engine new from a dealer or did some one eles buy it first?

I bought the motor new from Bass Pro Shops in Hanover, MD. Also let me clarify I did not remove the fly wheel just the cover on top of it to look at it. My engine serial # is 0R259224. Another issue is I keep the boat at my camp in ME and probably wont be able to get it to a service dealer until June when I go back up.

You are ok, It is good till 8/22/11. You could call them and let them know what the engine is doing And make an appointment so everyone will know it started doing this now and not next year.
