Found some local boats as im searching for my first. Ones a 2005 Bayliner 195 (2005 BAYLINER 195 CLASSIC BOWRIDER - LIKE NEW) & the other is a 2007 Bayliner 185 (2007 Bayliner 185 BR - SKI / Tubing). Going to look at the 195 this afternoon hopefully, if not tomorrow. Seems real high at 13000 though. I was thinking in the 7000 range for either of these would be a good deal though?! How much are these worth on average in northern Illinois?

yes too high also note the pics are from 2012. Typically I find owners like this trying to 'get their money back' because their boat is so 'special'.

the 185 is about right

I like the 'classic' better than the newer design, more interior room =on same size boat.

in my neck of the woods:

2004 Bayliner Fish and Ski

2000 19' Bayliner Capri Ski Boat

Drakes Creek Marine | 2004 Bayliner 185 for sale | Hendersonville, TN

Drakes Creek Marine | 2009 Bayliner Sport Boat 172 for sale | Hendersonville, TN

I didn't know there were differences between the "classic" and "bowrider". What are the differences between the two, aside from the physical room on deck?

I just sold a 2005 Bayliner 195 Classic yesterday. Mine had a tower on it and was in perfect shape. Got $9500 for it from the first guy who looked at it. I had it priced a little low. 13K for the same boat without a tower seems high.

The classic is the old style 80s on up Bayliner 195. The "non-classic" bayliner 195 is more modern looking, has the euro type swim platform and weighs a bunch more.

the classic has an bolted on swith platform/ladder the others (whatever the name) have a swim deck molded into he body of the boat. While the overall length is the same the internal area is larger.

Re: '07 Bayliner 185 & '05 Bayliner 195

here's a classic in IL listing at $10k should be able to get price down some

Used 2006 Bayliner 195 Cl, Blue Island, Il - 60406 - BoatTrader.com

Yup, basically the same boat as the 2005. The only real differences are that in 2006 they went to the ugly square windshield when they realized that they were stealing from the non classic 195 sales because the boats looked too similar and the price diff was big. The other difference is that the 2006 they started reducing the amount of wood in the boat.

The 2006 even though it has an uglier windshield would actually be a better boat to buy assuming it is in good condition

ahhh never noticed the rounded windshield per se just noticed there were some called classics that didn't quite look like it. Never could put my finger on it.

My first Bay I was torn between a used 2051 (Ldrive) and a new 195. The soon to be new wife said she like the 2051. Should have gone with my gut. On both the boat and the woman...

viper - the 195 has been around a long time - lots of parts if needed and proven design as it were. While a Bayliner is considered a lower quality boat, buy one that has been taken care of and you will be fine. I've had four.

And I've had 2 of them. The first was an abused late 80 something 195 which aside from what the previous owner had done to it we liked enough to buy a brand new 2005 195 classic that we had until yesterday. Great budget boat if they are taken care of, and ours was. We made a big leap up to a Malibu, which is the only reason the Bayliner was sold.

My old 89' Bayliner ski-boat design is very low slung. You're not sitting, the seats are so low you're actually squatting all the time. This gets old after awhile, especially if you are old,,,lol. The Classic is usually a deeper more comfortable boat. I don't know if this changed any on the newer boats? Mine had a bit tired 125hp Force outboard, and would do 40mph trimmed out.

I agree, 13k is very high. It's not priced at actual value, but 'sentimental value' like redneck joe said. You might find it hard to bargain with the owner, because your realistic offer is going to sound like a lowball in comparison to the asking price.
There are a ton of boats in my area that are priced like this. I would like to go look, but I'm not going to pay $9000 for a 2001 185!
