New guy here and thought I'd jump on board being that there seems to be a wealth of knowledge in threads and members.

I'll get straight to the point and try to make this as short as possible....
*Got a warrantied powerhead back in Nov.09

*Had the boat out 5 times before I got word that I had to have surgery on my neck C5 C6 fusion.

*Released to boat and fish again...I had a throttle problem and actually complained about it when I was breaking in the motor. Found out that a small hose was holding back a rod assemble opposite side of the engine where the cable comes in. Fixed that myself.

* Boat ran fine this Friday night in a 8 hour TX...never had one issue.

* Went fishing today and while cruising back around 50 -55 MPH, the oil alarm goes off. :mad: Its got plenty in the tank too!

* Restarted the boat as was able to go 2000 rpms for a long stretch of water. No Alarm at all.

* Decided to stop and gas it. Alarm goes off.

* Back to 2000 RPMs and I slowly brought it up to 3500 and planed out. NO Alarm.

* Hit a wave..Alarm!

* Repeated the last 2 above..same thing.

Upon getting it home, I noticed that the oil tank ON the side of the motor was below the top arrow. I used the switch to the side to fill it to the line.

Haven't ran it yet but I thought I'd throw this issue out there for the Yama experts. Any advice? I would like to mention that the original throttle and idle problem, caused me to take it to a dealer several times and ended up costing me me about 300 to "fix" but I found the issue. They never did.

when you got the alarm did it also indicate 3 bars flashing on the tach or the far left bar.
it sounds like a clogged remote tank filter.
a sure sign of to much maint.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping you would see this. When I did all my searches last night it seemed that your the guy with Yamaha knowledge. ;)

I have 2 alarm "icons" They sit to the right of the steering wheel. One looks to be for water temp and the other for Oil. No idicator bars at all on my helm or within any gauge I have.

You mentioned a clogged remote tank filter. Not being too hands on with this motor, could you tell me where thats located so I could check it. I have spent all I can on this motor. Its been out maybe 7 times now since the new power head, with 4 of those times before my surgery. My recover time for my surgery had the boat sitting for 5 months

its a small inline filter located at the outlet on the remote tank bottom, its mounted between the outlet and the transfer pump.
when all is normal you should see a bar on the far left or 3 solid bars,if the remote tank is low the center bar activates,this can be tested,key on engine off,unplug the remote tank harness. wait a few seconds and the visual will change.
NO alarms other than the visual for remote tank level.
typical symptoms of a restricted remote filter.

That all makes sense except for where I'm supposed to see the bars at? Side of the motor? Is this a digital gauge sort of thing I'm looking for? Theres nothing I can see there...

This is the fuel injected model engine on a Stratos 200 Pro XL

visual indicates on on the tach.
doesnt mean your was ever set up correctly.
just did one last week that has been wrong since it left HEWES boat company new.
if you can post a pic of your tach with key on engine off it would help.
