I think I've been up in the 90s twice in the last 10 years: Once in the Mustang and once in the Firebird. I like a lot of power, but I'm not so thrilled by speed anymore.

This is me in 1975. Got it up to 160 before I chickened out. It was still pulling and climbing like nobody's business.

Fastest vehicle I have been in - race prep'ed 588 cubic inch drag car - 197mph
Fastest vehicle I have driven - 1982 Porsche 928 with a Murf-928 stage 2 supercharger. 183mph (Tim Murphy was in the passenger seat)
Fastest vehicle I have driven and owned - 158mph (1973 Opel GT with 3.8 buick V6 at about 330hp)
Current Solstice GXP supposed to do 142, the top starts to flap at 130
prior Jetta GLX would do 135 from factory (governed)
Truck does about 110

on a daily basis I hit 85 with the flow of traffic........ followed by near zero 10 miles up the road as congestion hits.

most fun vehicle - my old Honda mopeds ~ 28mph

The fastest I was ever CAUGHT I was ticketed for 100mph. Officer told me I hit the gun at 98 and before he could get his finger off the trigger I was at 100. He told me I was obviously accelerating. That was 30+ years ago. I hit faster speeds on the race/test track, but not recently. I have slowed down considerably.

BTW, that was in a black and silver 1984 H/O Pontiac T/A ... it was a sweet car, but I walked for 15 days (during hunting season so I could hunt my way to work and back home each day since I lived a few miles from work with a wooded hillside the whole way).

I once ran past the 140 MPH mark all the way to 0 MPH in my 430 CI 59 TBird. I have no idea how accurate or inaccurate that speedo was. We did calculate the gear ratios and decided it could do it without redlining, but still undetermined.

Great stories guys, I did bury the speedo at 120+ on my 68 Fback Stang, nicely built and balanced 60 over 289, hogged 302 heads, rv cam, hyper pistons ,an easy 330 hp,, swapped 355's in it , then the glass hood lifted at night 90 ish yikes, and one night at 90 ish it decided to dump down to 2nd(auto Hurst/after that), damn did that rearend screech and lock a bit ;)
