I have a 2006 Nissan NSD90B it starts right up runs very rough then dies. Start it again still runs rough then in about 5 second it smooths up and runs great. It only does it the first time I start it every trip. Motor runs great other than that, just thought it was unusual. I put new plugs in it and that didn't help. Any suggestions on where to start.

The TLDI is not very shade tree mechanic friendly. If you feel that you have the skills, get a Factory service manual, put the motor in diag mode, and see what problems the ECU tells you. Otherwise, the best solution would be to see your dealer, who has the instruments to test and diagnose the systems of the motor. Problems could range from dirty injectors, to moisture in the fuel, to improper setting of the TPS.

Is a Nissan NSD90B a TLDI outboard ? Is the issue experienced every time the OB is started, say on next cold morning start or after the OB has run nicely, stopped, cooled for some hours and giving same issue when started again and so on ?

That's a 10 year oldie, has low, medium, high worked hours, was it conveniently flushed with fresh water after use, is it a salt or fresh water OB?

Thanks for the responses. Yea it is a TLDI. Been in fresh water its whole life. It's only the first start up of the day when it runs rough. Can even sit and fish couple hrs and start it back up and it will run smooth. When I bought the motor it had about 30 hrs on it and had been sitting for several years. I have probably put 10 hrs on it since I've had it. I think I might just try to find a mechanic local with the diag software. Any problematic filters that should be changed often

Tell mechanic to re torque all head bolts to factory specs, sometimes gives those symptoms specially on next day cold starts. Tohatsu recommends to re torque head bolts after break in period is ended, or soon after.
