Problem: 1
I havnt had her out since it was services last season, but when I started it up first time I forgot old fuel, in fact to me colour looked like fuel that was pre-mix two stroke.
So I changed fuel to some fresh 95 octane.
It blew a bit of smoke still but hard to tell if it was oil left off burning or some water still in the fuel line somewhere.
Should I buy a compression tester and while waiting for it, take it for a run to try blowing some cobwebs out?
Problem: 2
The outboard Tilt Support arm (the one you swing down, some people use to support engine when driving but should use a leg to trailer support) is seizing around the pinion that it should pivot on but rusts together on that pinion. How best to clean the rust permanently? Take it apart, brush the area down with an anti rust, once dry, put it back together and apply generous amounts of marine grease to both side and around the pinion it swings on?
I use CRC Marine spray for loosening rusted areas which worls well, but is there something better for soaking off caked together rust?
