The motor idles rough and if I let it sit for a few minutes, it would shut off... It also begins to stutter and shut off when I am going at low throttle... under 1k rpms...

Anyone know what the problem is???

Also I can't seem to find the idle adjustment for my outboard... Can anyone tell me where it is???

The idle speed adjustment is at the bottom carb.
With all sincerety I'd encourage you not to mess with any adjustment unless you're competent to do so.
Your motor is still under warranty unless there is fuel contamination involved. Then you need more than an idle adjustment.

What's the status on the 20 hour service? It's not uncommon for the valves to tighten on such a new engine causing your symptoms.

Re: 06 Honda 50hp outboard stalls at low throttle

I just bought the boat with the outboard. The guy I bought it from is the original owner of the boat. He said it had just had the 50 hour service done to it. It currently has 58 hours on it.

I'm still using the fuel that is left on the tank from the guy that I bought it from. He didn't use the boat for a month or two but used fuel conditioner in it... I'll try getting rid of the old fuel.

Thanks for the info.

I had a very similar problem with my 50 honda. It ended up being a clogged jet inside the carb. Unfortunately, I continued to run it in that condition and created a bigger problem. It caused the motor to run lean and burn one of the heads. So, I would definitely suggest getting it fixed just in case that's what it is.

I'm going to run some seafoam into the tank tomorrow. Do you think this would help clear it if it is the cause?

Also any idea how the warranty works? It should still be under warranty but I am not the original owner.

Contact your local Honda marine dealer for warranty and repair information.
Don't use the seafoam.

I wouldn't put the seafoam in. If the jet is clogged the seafoam can't get to it. Plus, it might void the warranty. I'm not sure how a secondhand warranty works. I would contact a local dealer to find out.
