Dear community..

I am not sure to belive my dealer tech or not. HE says that the motor should always be stored on the dinghy tilted up to level or higher as the oil will run towards the head and he even said if fully down , the oil will run past the rings!!!

I have 2 months 15+ hours on the motor now and every now and then it will smoke ALOT when started up.. IF it has been allnight or even shorter time in the full tilt down posn.

I think faulty valve seals ??.. rings must be ok since it does not smoke when running.

Is it necessary to Always store it in full up tilt posn ???

Surely not ?

pls advise before I froth at the dealer

Why not call HONDA? Ask to speak to a tech.

My BF50 smoked on startup for the first 20 hrs or so and hasn't since.
My daughters brand new F90 Yami does also. I told her not to give it a second thought until after break-in.

Oil level is very important. The lines on the dipstick translate into min. & max. Right between the two are perfect. I suggest you not fill it completely to the max. mark, a little below is better and will be less prone to smoke on startup.

I thought only 2-strokes smoked on start up?:^

My question would be: How does the engine cooling water drain, in freezing weather, with the engine up.

A little smoke is better than a cracked engine.
