06 50hp mercury

I just bought a new to me 20' pontoon with a 50 mercury on it. It has been sitting for several years. I am in the middle of cleanness it all up and getting it running again. But I can't get the tilt trim to work. I can hear the relays clicking but nothing happens.

I'm taking a guess, but does your tilt system allow it to be disconnected, allowing the motor to be manually tilted? If so, check that it can, indeed, tilt. Perhaps it is seized? (it might not have been lubed) Next, check whether the tilt mechanism can operate without the load/weight of the engine on it?

Also if the engine is up there might be a locking pin on the right side from rear. It has to be pulled outward.

I did find a little bypass screw that I back out a couple of turns and am able to manually raise and lower the motor.

Ended up being the tilt trim motor. Replaced that and works like a charm
